Basal and Short-term Food Denial Stress-Induced Plasma Cortisol in Four Lineages of Miniswine
This study measured baseline and short-term food-denial stress-induced plasma cortisol in four lines of juvenile miniature swine (Hanford, Yucatan, Sinclair S-1, and Göttingen) and found that all strains showed increased cortisol after the stressor, but the magnitude of the response varied by lineage. Sinclair S-1 minipigs had the lowest baseline cortisol and the smallest cortisol increase (~14%), while Yucatan and Göttingen had the largest stress responses (over ~125%).
Validation of a functional observational battery in the minipig for regulatory neurotoxicity assessments
Validation of a functional observational battery in Sinclair minipigs demonstrated sensitivity to stimulant- and depressant-induced neurobehavioral effects, supporting its use in regulatory neurotoxicity assessments.

Assessment of Sexual Maturity in Three Lineages of Miniature Swine
Sexual maturity can have multiple definitions depending on the area of research being discussed. Medical reproduction can be defined by the peak of reproductive capabilities, however, in toxicology studies it can be defined as the presence of reproductive gametes.
Comparison of the Rabbit, Diabetic Miniature Swine and Non-Human Primate to Evaluate the Clinical Biopotency of Insulin Products
Comparison of insulin biopotency across rabbits, diabetic Yucatan miniature swine, and non-human primates identified diabetic miniature swine as the most sensitive model for detecting small differences in insulin activity.
